The Queensland State final was played at the Lone Star Tavern on the weekend of November 5th & 6th 2011. Play commenced at 9.30am on the Sunday Morning with blind levels at $800/$1,600 increasing every 30 minutes. By early afternoon the field had been reduced to 32 players with players from all over Australia still in the event. A final table was established at 2.30pm, blinds levels were at $30,000/$60,000. 7 players on the final table were from Brisbane with the remaining player a home town hope from the pacific Pines on the Gold Coast, 3 players representing the Kensington Hotel a great effort, I'm told host Murray had a piece of each player and was receiving calls, texts and tweets as each hand progressed, 1 each from the Mt Gravatt Hotel, 4 Mile Creek Hotel, Camp Hill Hotel and The Brook Hotel.
Play proceeded over the next 5 hours as players battled for their share of the $20,000 in prize money. After the elimination of the 5th player on the final table the chip leader proposed a deal whereby the 3 remain in players would take $5,000 each and play for the title and the additional $570. All players were in agreement. Final results are as follows.
