BIG NEW MONTHLY CASH PRIZES!!

NPPL is giving even more opportunities for players to earn more cash by playing at their local NPPL venue. Instead of holding regional finals every 3 months, NPPL will be holding regional finals every 4 weeks in your region!

Even better news is that we have increased the number of regions meaning players have less pubs to compete against for the prize!!

NEW NPPL CASH PRIZEPOOL FORMAT F.A.Q's

How does the new season work?

Instead of the traditional 13 week season plus regional, we will now be having 4 week seasons, each followed by a cash final.

How do I qualify?
Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns, Gladstone and Rockhampton will now be all players who have made a final table during the season.

Brisbane areas - qualifying criteria will be the winner plus runner up at weekly event; plus the top 10 point scorers at the venue who didn't win or finish runner up. Where there is more than one game per week at a venue, the top 20 point scorers will qualify.

Can I get a seat from a friend who has 2, or give one of my extra ones away?

NO - in the new format, seats are not transferable, but the bonus is that the more seats you win, the less players you are playing against for the cash final.

Are all the venues involved?

Yes, all NPPL venues are involved in the new format, depending on which state you are in, the format is a little different: E.g Victoria has 2 regions (Red and Black). This is made up of around 25 venues each, each will have their own 4 week season and cash final every month.

Can I qualify for more then 1 region to play in the monthly final?

Yes, because the finals will be held on different days, you can qualify for both of the cash finals by winning an event in both the regions (Red and Black).

Are there still National Finals?

Yes, there will be 3 per year. Qualifiers will be made up of the top 16 players from each cash final. The national you qualify for will be the next national being held. It will either be in Vic, Qld or SA.

The top 25 point earners in each state will also be invited to the national finals.

NPPL Tasmanian Regional Final - June 2009

The Tasmanian Finals held on June 6th was a huge success with 68 enthusiastic poker players turned out at the St Leonards Village Inn for a fun-filled day of poker, drinking and socialising with mates.

The 10K deepstack game began steady with only 2 players falling in the first hour of play, followed by 9 in the second hour, before the next 3 hours saw the field reach the final table.

The first hand of the final table saw 4 players all-in! with Josh Brown and Leslie Watson splitting a pot with a pair of aces and sending both Mark Quinn and Jamie Leonard to the rails!

Next to go was Stuart King who was shortstacked and had to push, shortly followed by Brad Smith in fifth.

4 players remained and played for some time unitl Anita Nothrop mounted a massive comeback, followed by Kelly May taking a massive chip lead resulting in Leslie Watson, the last remaining Hobart player, finishing in 4th place.

Anita was next to go, after facing the two big stacks, leaiving just Kelly May and Joshua Brown to play heads up. The heads up battle was a long one, going for nearly 40 hands and an hour of play. Both players had tightened up, but there was 2 all-ins with Kelly May having the big stack and Josh on the short stack. Both times saw Kelly flip ace high and Josh flip king high, only for Josh to steal the win both times and take the chip lead.

The next all in saw Kelly's K6 vs Josh's KQ, with a 6 on the flop for kelly and the nut flush draw for Josh, only for Kelly to hit another 6 for a set and no flush came for Josh. Play went back and fourth several more hands until Josh's aggression eventually got the better of Kelly and the blinds forced her all in to give Josh the hard earned victory!

So a huge Congratulations to Joshua Brown who took out the days event after 6 hours of intense competition.

The results for the TAS Finals are as follows:
1st - Joshua Brown - $700
2nd - Kelly May - $200
3rd - Anita Nothrop - $100
4th - Leslie Watson - Bottle of Vodka
5th - Brad Smith - Bottle of Beam
6th - Stuart King
7th - Mark Quinn
8th - Jamie Leonard

Well done to all those who made it and we hope you all had a wonderful day, and we look forward to seeing you all at the next finals on July 4th!
